I am a bookbinder/artist who has been constructing one-of-a-kind artistic boxes since 2004 when a friend asked me to make boxes housing a chambered nautilus as invitations for a fiftieth birthday party. Since then my ambition and creativity have soared, and I am eager to experiment with new sizes and embellishments. I came to decorating the boxes with no art background (my elementary school teachers said I was not an artistic child) but with a deep curiosity and strong urge to create and make things with my hands.
My fifteen-year background as a bookbinder has given me a high level of craftsmanship in the construction of clam-shell boxes, which are designed to hold rare books to protect them from the elements—dust, light, and humidity. I use the clam-shell box technique in my wine bottle boxes. Each box is unique and constructed exclusively by me.
