The idea of decorating homes with art is a long-standing tradition dating back to cave dwellers. My desire to create bits of beauty for home and office enhancement is what led me to describe my work as "Wall Jewelry." I particularly love to work with my own hand created paper, which begins, literaly with a bucket of water and pulp; and a hot summer day helps! |
After the paper pouring and drying methods are complete, which takes several days, I lay on layers of varnish, which creates a beautiful translucent piece. This alone would be enough to mount, frame and hang in many spaces and indeed I have seen works of art that are just this simple. My joy, though, is to use the paper as a backdrop for further enhancement. I love to use metallic paints, (I am especially fond of copper, gold and bronze) and natural fibers and luxurious fabrics collected from my travels around the world, to create a finished piece to adorn wall space. Then with the help of our local professional framers I choose appropriate styles of framing. Some of my pieces are 'floated' and mounted, left framless, others are mounted, matted and then single, double or even triple framed. The result is sophisticated, elegant and very unique pieces of art suitable for most homes and offices. Making art for me is relaxing, energizing and spiritual; art is my expression of gratitude for the beautiful and magnificent world all around. I want my work to be part of the collective energry that increases awareness and appreciation for beauty; a feast for eyes and soul. I would be so pleased if you would view my art online and then call for a personal showing in my home studio. A personal visit is the best way to determine if the pieces I create are right for your home or office. |
