Visual art is my passion. The joy is in the interplay of light, color, rhythm and balance in shapes and pattern. This emotion has propelled me along a lifelong pursuit of creativity. Mediums that I favor are soft pastels, acrylic and silk painting, which produces watercolor effects.
Color theory class, under the direction of James Barany at Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, sparked my fascination with the experimental possibilities of pigments. Texture and tessellation can be achieved in any medium. I choose fiber, namely silks, because textile loosens and frees my design creations.

I love to transform pure white silk into vibrant, colorful pieces of wearable or decorative art. The paint dye colors take on a life of their own, swirling, turning and merging into wonderful contortions on wet silk. The final result, after the paint has dried, is a textural surprise and delight. Techniques include the ‘color movement’ method, French Serti, mono printing, batik, shibori and stamping.
