Sandy received her first “brownie” camera at the age of eight, and has avidly enjoyed taking pictures of family and travel adventures ever since. In the 1990’s her interest in photography became more serious |
when she created the “Sheboygan Lakeshore Series” for the YMCA, where she was employed as the Aquatic Director. Sandy studied photography at Lakeshore Technical College, working in both black and white and color. She has since attended several workshops in Door County at the Peninsula Art Studio, in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan with John and Barbara Gerlach, with Hank Erdmann and in Phoenix with Arizona Highways Magazine. A longtime member of the Sheboygan Camera Club, Sandy has won numerous monthly awards and annual competitions. In 2003 she taught a beginning photography course at the Sheboygan YMCA as well as photographing many of the pictures for their seasonal brochures. Sandy and her husband are retired and enjoy hiking and traveling to the Southwest, always on the lookout for the perfect photo-op. She is a member of the Saguaro Camera Club of Mesa and has won several top honors in their monthly competitions. She teaches Photography and Photoshop classes at a local resort, organized the formation of a Camera Club, acts as coordinator for photo excursions, and coordinated the first annual Photo Competition. She sells her line of “Southwest Images” at local art fairs. |
